Getting to UEA:

Further information for Visitors to UEA

Arrival at UEA:

Download a campus map from here. If you have reserved accommodation on Campus, please go to the Accommodation and Conference Office to collect your room keys (C11 on the Campus Map). Rooms are available from 1400 on the day of arrival. If you arrive after 2100 (or 1800 on Saturday), you should collect your keys from the Security Lodge. (It will be helpful if you could notify us in advance if you will arrive late, but it is not essential.) All rooms are in Constable Terrace (R2 on the Campus Map). Because of building work on Campus, those of you who reserved standard accommodation have been upgraded to ensuite rooms at no extra charge.

UEA Conferences Frequently Asked Questions

Meals:

For people on the Conference Package, meals will be served in 'Zest'. Dinner on Sunday will be available 1800-1900. Breakfast on Monday is 0730-0900. Those of you who are staying on campus will be given a conference badge when you check in to your accommodation. You will need to wear this when having meals in 'Zest'. Those of you who are non-resident but have pre-booked meals will find dated meal tickets in your conference packs which can be used in 'Zest'. Other participants can find lunch at various other catering outlets on campus. You are welcome to make use the Student Union Bar on Campus (this is a reasonable place for people to meet on Sunday evening).

Lectures:

Lectures begin at 0900 on Monday in Elisabeth Fry Room 01.08 (F6 on Campus map). This is close to Constable Terrace and the entrance to the lecture room is from the car park at the back of the Elisabeth Fry building. The lecture room has good blackboards, two overhead projectors and a data projector to which you can (in theory) connect your laptop.

Free afternoon:

There are no lectures planned for Wednesday afternoon. Some suggestions for things to do:

Use of computers:

In your conference pack you will find a form about computer use on campus. Please sign the form agreeing to conditions of use and return it to the conference desk in Constable Terrace Common Room A during a coffee break, or to David Evans. You will be assigned a guest user account and you will then have access to computers on campus as described on the form (for security you are advised to change your guest password on your first login). Once you have your user account set up, you should be able to connect your laptop to the University network from your room on campus, but you will need to provide your own networking cable. Note that two of the conditions of use of the Network are that you must be running up-to-date anti-virus software and must not be running certain programs prohibited by the University (mainly P2P programs such as Bearshare, Kazaa,...).
